This guide explains AI Credits—what they are, how they work, and how to manage them.
Intro to AI Credits
AI Credits are tokens required to use Fireflies AI features like:
- AskFred - ChatGPT-powered meeting assistant that answers questions.
- AI Apps - Customize meeting notes for different types of meetings with 100+ templates.
- Magic/Keyword Soundbites - Extracts key soundbites from meetings.
- Custom summaries - Tailor Fireflies’ default summaries.
Using these AI Features, you can answer questions using AskFred, generate tailored insights like BANT or MEDDIC, create Soundbites or customize the default Fireflies summary sections.
How to get AI Credits?
You get AI Credits when you create a Fireflies account or upgrade to a paid plan. Here is how:
- Free Fireflies Account: 20 AI Credits upon signup.
- Paid Plan Upgrade: 30 AI Credits.
Note:
1. Unused AI Credits roll over during upgrades

- Example: If you have 20 unused AI Credits in a Free plan and upgrade to Paid, your total becomes 50 AI Credits (20 + 30).
2. Credits are shared across teammates

- AI Credits are shared within your workspace. Adding teammates does not increase the total credits.
- Example: If your workspace has 50 credits, adding a new teammate means those 50 credits are shared among all members.
AI Credits usage
AI Credits are consumed when you use the Fireflies AI features. You can choose from three GPT models to refine outputs - Basic, Advanced, and Advanced Large.

Note:
- The option to Customize default summaries is available only to Paid users. It consumes 1 AI Credit for each customization.
- After you’ve consumed all the AI Credits, you will hit a paywall to buy more AI Credits as a separate add-on.

You need to be on a paid plan to Purchase AI Credits. Here is how AI Credits are priced:

Note:
- The AI Credits will automatically renew at the start of each monthly cycle.
- AI Credits are charged monthly, and there’s no option for a one-time payment.
- Unused credits do not roll over; they expire at the end of the billing cycle.
- If you run out of credits before the next cycle, Fireflies automatically upgrades your credits to prevent service interruptions. Learn how to pause auto-upgrades here.
