You can invite the Fireflies AI notetaker by adjusting your auto-join settings, which lets you either invite Fireflies manually to a meeting or let it automatically detect meeting links in your calendar invitation. Fireflies also allows you to invite the AI notetaker to an ongoing meeting.
In this guide, we'll cover all three options.

Manual invite
- Open the calendar (Google/Outlook) connected to your Fireflies account and create a new meeting.
- Add fred@fireflies.ai as a guest.
- Click Save and then Send to send the invite to all guests.
By default, Fireflies automatically joins all your meetings. Read this guide to disable the auto-join setting: How to disable the Fireflies auto-join settings?
Automatic invite
- In the Fireflies dashboard, set Auto join calendar meetings setting.
- This allows Fireflies to automatically join all meetings on your behalf. Pick the auto-join options from the dropdown to limit access to specific meetings. You can choose whether Fireflies should join and record internal or external meetings or meetings created by others.
Add to an ongoing meeting
- In the Fireflies dashboard, click Add to live meeting.
- Paste the meeting URL in the pop-up window and click Start Capturing.
This will allow Fireflies to join the live meeting as a participant in 2-3 minutes. It works for meeting links from Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and other popular platforms.
