In this guide, you’ll learn about Fireflies’ Bookmarks feature.
What are Bookmarks?
- The Bookmarks feature allows you to tag key meeting moments as important, action items, positive feedback, and concerns within your meeting transcript.
- Every bookmark corresponds to a timestamp to make revisiting specific parts of your meeting easy.
Types of Bookmarks

There are four types of Bookmarks:
- Important: Highlight crucial points.
- Action Items: Mark tasks and follow-ups.
- Positive: Mark positive feedback or moments.
- Concerns: Mark areas of concern.
- Each bookmark includes a title, timestamp, and short summary to help you quickly understand the context.
- Anyone who has access to the meeting transcript can view all the Bookmarks.
How to create Bookmarks?
- You can create bookmarks during a live meeting or add them to a recording.
1. How to create bookmarks during live meetings
- You can use the Live Meeting pane to create Bookmarks in real-time during meetings.

- First, open the Live Meeting pane.
- There are 3 ways to access the live meeting pane during an ongoing meeting:
- Via the Dashboard
- The Upcoming Meetings module allows you to see ongoing and upcoming meetings.
- Click Live Meeting, and the live meeting pane will open in a new tab.
- Via your meeting chat
- If you’ve enabled Web Conference Chat in your Fireflies Realtime Settings, Fireflies will automatically share a link to live meeting chat in the chat box of your video conferencing tool.
- Click on the link, and the Live Meeting pane will open in a new window.
- Via email
- If you’ve enabled Email Notification under Fireflies Realtime Settings, Fireflies will automatically share a link to the live meeting pane via email 5 minutes before the meeting starts.
- Click Open live meeting transcript, and the live meeting pane will open in a pop-up window.
Note: Make sure your browser does not have pop-up blockers.
- Once the Live Meeting pane is open, click the Bookmark tab.
- Whenever you need to bookmark something, click on your desired Bookmarks button.
- You can also see the bookmarks you and your teammates are creating, along with their timestamps, in real time.
2. How to add bookmarks in a meeting recording using Fireflies Notepad
- You can add bookmarks to a meeting recording from the notepad to flag important points while reviewing the transcript.
You can create the Bookmarks in two ways:
1. Create Bookmarks with meeting marker
- Scroll the meeting marker to where you want to leave a bookmark.
- Then, click the desired Bookmarks icon from the bottom right to create Bookmarks.
2. Create Bookmarks via the transcript
- Highlight the section of the transcript you want to bookmark.
- Click the Bookmarks icon.
- Select the type.
- The bookmark will be added to the Bookmarks list.
How to view Bookmarks?
- All the bookmarks are saved under the Bookmarks tab on the left navigation menu in the Fireflies notepad.

- To view the Bookmarks, open the Bookmarks tab and click the drop-down menu at the top.
- You can also filter the Bookmarks list by type.
- Click the drop-down menu and choose the type of Bookmarks you want to view:
- All Bookmarks
- Important
- Action Items
- Positive
- Concerns
- Now, the Bookmarks section will filter and only show the type of Bookmarks you selected.
- To view the section, click the Bookmark you want to see in the Bookmarks tab. The meeting will play from the corresponding timestamp.
- Alternatively, you can hover over the meeting marker to reveal all bookmarks on the transcript.
- Click on any marker to jump directly to that section and listen to the recording.
How to share Bookmarks?
- You can easily copy and share all bookmarks with others.
- To do that, click on the copy icon to copy all Bookmarks.
- You can also apply the Bookmarks filter and copy only a specific type of Bookmarks from the meeting.
