🔑 Prerequisites
Before using Live Assist on the Fireflies Mobile App, make sure:
You’ve installed the Fireflies mobile app on your device (iOS or Android).
You’re logged into the app using the same email address as your Fireflies account.
You’ve granted the app the required permissions, including microphone access and notifications, so Live Assist can capture live conversations.
The Fireflies.ai Notetaker must join your meeting for Live Assist to work.
Once Fireflies joins the meeting, you’ll automatically get a link to open Live Assist — no extra install or manual setup required.
🚀 Navigating to Fireflies Live Assist
You can open Fireflies Live Assist in two quick ways — choose whichever feels easier for you:
Option 1: From your meeting chat — When Fireflies joins your call on mobile, it automatically posts a default message in the meeting chat with a link to View Realtime notes.
Tap this link to open Live Assist immediately and view real-time notes and transcripts during the meeting.

If you don’t see the message right away, wait about 30 seconds — that’s when Fireflies posts the Live Assist link in the meeting chat. It’s also pinned, so anyone who joins later can easily find it.
Option 2: From your Fireflies mobile app — You can also open Live Assist directly from the Fireflies mobile app. Look for the ongoing meeting in the app and tap it to open Live Assist and view real-time notes while the meeting is in progress.

🧠 Using Fireflies Live Assist (Real-Time Notes)
Once Live Assist opens, Fireflies listens to the conversation and updates live transcripts, bookmarks, and AI insights in real time.
The meeting title and live timer at the top help you confirm which meeting you’re in and how long it’s been running.

1. Real-Time Suggestions
When you’re in a meeting and need a quick overview, Live Assist on mobile shows smart suggestion buttons at the top of the Notes tab. These let you catch up or review key points without typing or leaving the meeting.
The default options include:
Follow Up – Get suggested follow-up questions or next steps based on what’s being discussed.
Catch Up (Last 1 min) – See a quick summary of the last minute of conversation if you missed something.
Summarize So Far – View a short mid-meeting recap of everything discussed so far.
Action Items – Instantly surface tasks, decisions, or next steps mentioned during the meeting.
Example: Tap Follow Up to see suggested follow-up questions or next steps based on the ongoing discussion—without interrupting the meeting.

2. Dynamic Topic Suggestions
Live Assist automatically detects key themes from your meeting and shows them as clickable topic cards below the default options.
Here’s how they work:
Dynamic cards appear based on the live discussion (for example, “Pricing updates” or “Next sprint”).
Click a card to see a quick AI summary in AskFred on the right.
Auto follow-ups – Once you ask something, Live Assist suggests relevant follow-up questions automatically.
Cards refresh automatically to match the flow of your ongoing meeting.
Example:
If your team starts discussing Terror and climate, a “Terrorism & climate change” card will appear — click it to view a summary instantly.
The Dynamic Topic Suggestions feature is available only on paid plans. Free users will see just the four default options.

3. Transcript (Live Conversation)
As your meeting happens, Fireflies listens and shows a live transcript of the conversation, updating line by line with speaker names and timestamps.
You can follow along in real time, scroll back to review a moment, or use it later to quote someone accurately.

4. Live AI Notes
The Live AI Notes section shows structured notes created automatically as people talk during the meeting—so you don’t have to type or switch screens.
As the conversation progresses, Fireflies:
Organizes discussion into clear headings
Adds timestamps for important points
Highlights key takeaways and action items
Uses bullet points to keep notes easy to scan on mobile
Live AI Notes update continuously while the meeting is running and are saved automatically once the meeting ends. You can review or share these notes later from your Fireflies Notebook.

5. Meeting Markers
Meeting markers help you quickly flag important moments during a meeting, so you can stay focused on the conversation and revisit key points later.
You’ll find these marker options at the bottom-right corner of the Live Assist screen during an active meeting.
Ref. | Marker Type | Description |
1 | Important (Bookmark) | Save key sections of the conversation for quick access later. |
2 | Action Items | Flag tasks, decisions, or follow-up actions mentioned during the meeting. |
3 | Thumbs Up (Positive) | Highlight positive feedback, agreements, or strong discussion points. |
4 | Thumbs Down (Negative) | Flag concerns, risks, or moments that may need review. |
5 | Create a short clip from the meeting by capturing the past 20 seconds, past 40 seconds, or past 1 minute of conversation. |

When you tap a marker, Fireflies highlights that moment in the meeting so you can easily find it later in the Bookmarks tab and in your Fireflies Notebook.

6. Ask Fred
The Ask Fred section lets you interact with Fireflies’ AI during the meeting, directly from your mobile screen. It helps you clarify points, get quick summaries, or explore ideas—without leaving the meeting or switching apps.
Here’s what you can do:
Follow up easily – Ask Fred remembers the context of your previous question, so you can ask related follow-ups without starting over.
Example “Catch me up (last 1 min)” → follow up with “Elaborate what redefining success looks like in practice”

Ask manual/everyday questions – Type your own question or ask general questions during the meeting. Ask Fred understands the meeting context and can also fetch answers from the web, showing responses directly on your mobile screen.
Example “Summarize decisions made so far,” or “What’s the weather in China right now?”

7. Collaboration & Privacy
Fireflies Live Assist lets you easily share live notes while keeping control over who can view them.
At the top of the pane, you’ll find two main options :
Privacy Settings – Only the meeting host can change who can access the Live Assist pane. Click the globe icon to update its privacy settings.
Set the right privacy level before sharing so only the right people can view Live Assist. 📘 Learn more about Privacy Settings.

Copy Link – Click the link icon to copy and share your Live Assist view in chat or email. This lets teammates or anyone with the right access join and view notes in real time.

Only users with access (based on your privacy settings) can open the link, and they must be logged in to Fireflies.
8. AI Credits Usage
Live Assist and AskFred use AI credits each time you ask a question, generate a summary, or run an analysis.

To view your team’s AI credit usage:
From your Fireflies mobile dashboard, click Settings on the left navigation bar.

Select AI Credits Usage to see a detailed breakdown of credits consumed by the Realtime Pane and AskFred.
