How to add Fireflies to an ongoing meeting

Forgot to add Fireflies before the meeting started? No problem.
With Add to live meeting, you can bring Fireflies into a meeting that’s already in progress and continue capturing notes, transcripts, and a summary.

🔑 Prerequisites
Before adding Fireflies to a live meeting, make sure:
You’re signed in to your Fireflies.ai account
You have access to the meeting link you want Fireflies to join
The meeting is hosted on a supported video conferencing platform (for example, Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams)
No advance setup is required — you can add Fireflies even after the meeting has already started.
🚀 Add Fireflies to a Live Meeting
Follow these steps to add Fireflies to a meeting that’s already in progress.
Step 1: Log in to your Fireflies account and click the Capture button at the top right (or open the dropdown next to it).

Step 2: From the dropdown menu, select Add to live meeting.

Step 3: In the Add to live meeting window, fill in the meeting details:
Field | Description |
Name your meeting (optional) | Add a name to help you recognize the meeting later (for example, Product team sync). If you leave this blank, Fireflies will use a default name. |
Meeting link | Paste the meeting URL from your video conferencing tool (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and more). |
Meeting language | Select the primary language spoken in the meeting so Fireflies can generate accurate transcripts and summaries. |

Step 4: Click on the Start Capturing button and wait 2–3 minutes while Fireflies.ai Notetaker joins the meeting.

Step 5: Fireflies ask to join or be admitted to the meeting. If permission is granted, Fireflies.ai Notetaker appears in the participant list and begins taking notes on your behalf.
This guide uses Google Meet for demonstration purposes. Permission steps may vary slightly depending on the meeting platform and its settings

Heads up: Some Users May See a Warning in Google Meet
You may see Fireflies Notetaker labeled as a “potential risk” when it appears in the waiting room.
This is part of a Google Meet security update and does not indicate any risk.
If you don’t see the “Admit” button, click the three dots (⋮) next to Fireflies Notetaker and select “Admit entry.”

👀 What Happens After Fireflies Joins?
Once Fireflies joins the meeting:
Fireflies.ai Notetaker appears in the meeting’s participant list
It records the conversation, transcribes it, and generates a meeting summary
The Fireflies.ai Notetaker posts a message in the meeting chat with:
A link to Fireflies’ privacy policy
A link to open the real-time panel, where you can view the live transcript, summary, and AskFred during the meeting

After the meeting ends, your notes, transcript, and recording are saved to your Fireflies account
