How to Change Your Primary Payment Method in Fireflies
Keeping your payment methods up to date ensures your team's Fireflies subscription runs smoothly without any service interruptions. Whether a corporate card expired, or you simply want to switch billing to a different account, updating your default payment method is quick and easy.
This guide walks you through adding new cards, managing existing ones, and setting your primary default.
🔑 Prerequisites
Role: You must be the current Billing Admin to access these settings.
Plan: This applies to all paid Fireflies tiers (Pro, Business, and Enterprise).
Setup Rule: You can save multiple cards to your account, but you must keep at least one designated as the default card to process invoices.
🚀 Changing Your Payment Method
Follow these steps to navigate to your payment settings and switch your default card.
Step 1: Access your Settings
From your Fireflies dashboard, navigate to the left-hand sidebar and click on Settings.

Step 2: Navigate to Billing
Inside the Settings menu, select the Billing tab. This is where you’ll see your current plan, usage, and payment history.

Step 3: Locate the Payment Section
Inside the Billing tab, scroll down until you see the PAYMENT block. Here, you will see a list of all your currently saved credit cards.
You need to have at least two cards available in payment section to change payment method.
💡 Pro Tip: The card labeled with the green Active badge is your current default payment method. This is the card Fireflies will charge for your upcoming invoices.

Step 4: Switch Payment Method
If the card you want to use is already saved in your list, switching to it takes just one click:
Locate the card you want to use in the list.
Hover your mouse cursor over the far-right side of that card's row (under the "ACTIONS" column).
Two hidden buttons will appear. Click Make Default.

For security reasons, you cannot edit the digits or expiration date of a card once it is saved. If a card expires or the details change, you must add the updated card as a new payment method and delete the old one.
How to remove a card:
Hover your mouse over the right side of the card you want to delete.
Click the red Remove button.
🔍 Troubleshooting / FAQs
I don't see the 'Billing' tab. If you don't see this tab, you are not the current Billing Admin. Ask your team lead to find out who holds the billing permissions.
Why can't I click the "Remove" button? You cannot delete a card that is currently marked as Active. If you need to delete your default card, you must first add a new card and set that one as the default. Once the old card loses the green "Active" badge, the "Remove" button will appear on hover.
Can I receive invoices without adding a card? A valid payment method is required for all self-serve paid subscriptions to keep your workspace active.
Recap: You can safely store multiple payment methods in Fireflies, but the one marked with the green Active badge will always be the one charged.
