How to downgrade Fireflies subscription
If your team's needs change and you no longer require advanced features like private storage or custom data retention, scaling back is completely hassle-free. You can downgrade your Fireflies subscription to a lower paid tier at any time directly from your dashboard.
π‘ Note: This article is part of our comprehensive guide on billing. To learn more about overarching billing policies, refer to Manage Fireflies account subscriptions, billing, and refunds.
π Prerequisites
Role: You must be the current Billing Admin to change subscription plans.
Eligible Plans: Enterprise plan users can downgrade to either the Business or Pro plan, and Business plan users can downgrade to only the Pro plan.
Billing Impact: Your account will be billed for the downgraded plan on your next billing cycle. Any remaining pro-rated balance from your higher tier will automatically be added as credits to your account to offset future invoices.
π Downgrading Your Subscription
Follow these steps to move your workspace to a lower tier:
Step 1: Access your Settings
From your Fireflies dashboard, navigate to the left-hand sidebar and click on Settings.
Step 2: Navigate to Billing
Inside the Settings menu, select the Billing tab. This is where youβll see your current plan, usage, and payment history.

Step 3: Edit Your Current Plan
In the Billing block on the top locate your current plan details (e.g., Enterprise). Click the purple EDIT button next to your plan name.

Step 4: Select Downgrade
The "Edit plan" modal will open showing your seat count and billing cycle. Under the "Current plan" section, click the linked text that says Downgrade to [Plan Name] (for example, Downgrade to Business).

Step 5: Confirm the Downgrade
A warning modal will appear detailing the specific features your workspace will lose (such as private storage or custom data retention). Read this carefully to ensure your team won't be disrupted.
If you are ready to proceed, click the red Downgrade button.

Step 6: Verify the Change

Your billing dashboard will refresh, and your new, downgraded plan will be reflected immediately in the PLAN section.
Enterprise plan users can downgrade to either the Business or Pro plan, and Business plan users can downgrade to only the Pro plan.

π Troubleshooting / FAQs
When does the downgrade take effect? Your current premium features will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. The new plan limits and pricing will apply to your next invoice.
What happens to the money I already paid for the higher tier? Fireflies automatically calculates the unused time on your higher-tier plan and converts it into account credits. These credits will be automatically applied to your next billing cycle.
Will I lose my past meetings? No, your past meetings will remain safe. However, you will lose access to premium features (like custom data retention or specific features) that are exclusive to the higher-tier plan.
Recap: You can adjust your plan at any time to fit your budget. The system will automatically handle the prorated math and apply credits to your next cycle.
