Understanding Transcription Credits

1. What are transcription credits?

Transcription credits are tokens required to transcribe and generate AI summaries for your meetings or uploaded files in Fireflies.

2. How do I get transcription credits?

Transcription credits are automatically allocated to every Fireflies account upon creation.

3. How many transcription credits do I receive?

• If you’ve upgraded to a Fireflies paid tier (Pro and above), you get unlimited transcription credits. 

• However, if you’re on the Fireflies free tier, the credits are decided based on the platform you use to create your Fireflies account. Here's a breakdown:

4. Are transcription credits required to transcribe and summarize meetings?

Yes, transcription credits are required for transcribing and summarizing meetings. Here’s how they are consumed across different plans:

1. Free Plan

• By default, 1 transcription credit is used to transcribe and summarize 1 meeting.

• However if you enable the Unlimited Free Transcription toggle, transcription credits are only used for summarizing meetings, not for transcribing them.

2. Paid Plans (Pro, Business & Enterprise)

• Transcription credits are unlimited for all meetings, so you don’t need to track their usage. 

5. Are transcription credits needed for transcribing uploaded files?

Yes. Transcription credits are required to transcribe uploaded files. Here’s how they are consumed across different plans:

1. Free Plan

• 1 transcription credit is consumed to transcribe and generate summaries for 1 file uploaded to Fireflies.

2. Paid Plan (Pro, Business & Enterprise)

• As transcription credits are unlimited, you don’t need to track their usage. 

• However, a rate limit applies to all users in the paid plan who wish to transcribe uploaded files from different sources like – uploads feature from the Fireflies dashboard, Zapier, Dialers, Storage apps, API.

• The rate limits are as follows: 

• Per user limit: 3,000 minutes/mo/source

  • Overage: $0.01/minute after 3,000 minutes

  1. Team cap: 3,000 minutes/seat/mo/source

     • Overage: $0.01/minute after 150,000 minutes

6. Can I transcribe past meetings when you upgrade to a paid plan?

• Yes. You can transcribe past meetings when upgrading to a paid plan. 

• While transcribing past meetings, your paid plan's monthly rate limits apply. If you exceed those limits, an overage of $0.01/min is charged.

7. How can I get more transcription credits on the Free plan?

You can earn more transcription credits through the following methods:

• Upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited credits

• Invite team members to your workspace
