This article covers different ways to remove Fireflies from your meetings.
Ongoing meetings
Use either of the two methods below to remove the Fireflies AI notetaker from ongoing meetings.
1. Remove from the meeting panel
Here are the steps to remove Fireflies from these common platforms:
1. Zoom
- Open the participant list, click More next to Fireflies Notetaker, and select Remove.
2. Google Meet
- In the participant list, click the kebab menu icon next to the Fireflies Notetaker and then Remove from the call.
3. MS Teams
- In the participant list, click Fireflies.ai Notetaker and choose Remove from meeting.
2. Remove from the Dashboard
- From Upcoming Meetings, click on the stop button.
Note: Meetings ended from the dashboard will be processed like any other call.
Note:
- If you remove Fireflies from an active meeting, it will stop recording and exit the meeting.
- Fireflies AI notetaker needs to be in the meeting for at least three minutes. If you remove the bot before that, it will not record and transcribe the meeting.
- Transcripts are processed for the time Fireflies was present.
- Any recording up to the removal point is added to your Notebook.

Upcoming meetings
1. Disable auto-join settings
By default, Fireflies auto-joins meetings by detecting links in calendar invites. You can disable it from the dashboard or the Settings page.
1. From the Dashboard:
- Click the dropdown icon under Auto join calendar meetings settings.
- Set it to Only when I invite fred@fireflies.ai.
Now, this new setting will apply to all your upcoming meetings.
- To prevent Fireflies from joining a specific upcoming meeting, toggle it off in the Upcoming Meetings module on the dashboard.
Note: The Upcoming Meetings section displays meetings scheduled on your calendar for the next two days only. Meetings scheduled beyond this timeframe are not visible.
2. From the Settings:
- Alternatively, go to Settings.
- Under Meeting Settings, find Autojoin Settings and toggle it.
Note:
- Fireflies will not join any meetings on your calendar unless you invite fred@fireflies.ai as a participant.
- For teams, only team admins can disable the auto-join settings or allow team members to choose their settings.
2. Set Bar Rules
Instead of disabling auto-join completely, enter specific meeting titles you want Fireflies to skip using Bar Rules.
- Go to Settings.
- Under Meeting Settings, find Bar Rules.
- Here you can:
Enter keywords (e.g., Interview, Confidential) to block Fireflies from joining meetings with those words in the title.
Add email addresses or domains (e.g., @example.com) to prevent Fireflies from joining meetings with participants from those domains.
Fireflies will not join those meetings while still auto-joining others.
