How to Integrate Linear with Fireflies
Last updated: December 31, 2025
Turning meeting ideas into tasks shouldn’t take extra effort. The Linear + Fireflies integration automatically converts meeting action items into Linear issues, helping product and engineering teams keep their backlog clean and up to date — no copy-paste needed.
Let’s get started 🚀
🔍 What Does the Linear Integration Do?
The Linear + Fireflies integration keeps your workflow smooth by adding meeting action items directly to your Linear projects.
It helps you:
Create tasks automatically: Action items from meetings become Linear issues instantly.
Add tasks by voice: Use voice triggers to capture to-dos during calls.
Stay organized: All issues appear under the right team and project, keeping development work aligned.
🔑 Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
Linear Account → Access to the workspace and project where you want Fireflies to create tasks.
Fireflies Account → Logged in to your workspace where integrations are enabled.
Ensure you have permission to create issues in Linear. If you can’t see your team or project later, check with your Linear admin.
🔗 Connect Linear to Fireflies
Step 1: Log in to your Fireflies account, click on the Integrations tab, and search for Linear App. Click on it to get started.

Step 2: Click the Connect button, and you’ll be redirected to the Linear login page. After signing in, you’ll automatically move to the authorization page to grant Fireflies access.

Step 3: Click the Authorize Fireflies button to allow Fireflies to create and manage tasks in your Linear workspace.

Step 4: Once approved, you’ll be redirected back to Fireflies to configure your integration setup.

⚙ Setting Up Your Configuration
Step 1: Select Your Team and Project
Choose where Fireflies should create your meeting tasks inside Linear. Picking the right team and project ensures each issue lands in the right workflow automatically.
Select your team → From the dropdown, pick the Linear team where you want issues created (for example, Begawn).
Choose your project → Next, select the project that matches your workflow (for example, Fireflies Demo).
If your team or project doesn’t appear, create it in Linear first and refresh the page.

Step 2: Choose Issue Status and Task Preference
Choose how your meeting tasks should appear in Linear once they’re created. Setting the right status helps your team track progress easily.
Select the issue status → Pick how you’d like new issues to be marked by default. You can choose from In Review, Backlog, In Progress, Duplicate, Done, Canceled, or Todo.
Task preference → By default, Fireflies adds all meeting action items to Linear. Turn the toggle on if you’d prefer to only include tasks assigned to you.
You can always adjust these settings later to fit your workflow or focus only on your own follow-ups.

Step 3: Create a Sample Issue in Linear
Before you go live, it’s a good idea to make sure everything’s working as expected. Fireflies lets you test your setup with a single click.
Click Create Sample Issue in Linear → Fireflies will instantly add a test issue to the team, project, and status you selected.
Open Linear to confirm the issue appears in the right place.
Once verified, click Continue to move forward.
This test doesn’t affect your real projects — it’s just to confirm your integration is connected correctly.

🧩 Additional Options – Integration Rules
By default, Fireflies creates tasks in Linear for every meeting. That’s great if you want full coverage, but it can also add clutter to your project board. Integration Rules help you control which meetings send tasks to Linear — so only the ones that truly matter make it through.
Integration Rules are available on Business or higher plans.

🗂 All Meetings
Create Linear issues from every meeting — including client calls, standups, and team syncs — without applying any filters.
📝 Meeting Title
Only create issues when the meeting title matches your chosen conditions (Contains, Starts with, Equals, or Doesn’t Contain). Example: Only create issues for meetings titled “Sprint Planning” or “Bug Review.”
Add multiple keywords separated by commas (e.g., Demo, Review, Interview).
👤 Meeting Host
Filter which meetings send tasks to Linear based on the meeting host.
Equals → Only create tasks from meetings hosted by john@example.com.
Not Equal → Exclude meetings hosted by john@example.com.
👥 Meeting Participants
Choose which meetings to include or exclude based on attendees.
Contains → Only create tasks for meetings that include sara@example.com.
Doesn’t Contain → Skip meetings that include alex@example.com.
🎦 Meeting Type
Filter by meeting type to stay focused on relevant discussions.
Example: Equals External → Only create tasks for external client meetings.
🔀 Apply Multiple Filters
Combine filters to get precise control over which meetings send data to Linear.
Example: Title contains Bug AND host is john@example.com.
Rules can use AND (all conditions must match) or OR (any condition matches).

You can see all the filters you’ve applied in your configuration. For example, tasks will only be created in Linear for meetings that meet all of these criteria:
✅ Example applied: Title contains Review, host = John, participant = Mary, type = External.

💾 Save Your Configuration
Click Save to activate the integration — a flash message will confirm that your configuration has been successfully added.

You can set up multiple configurations — for example, one for internal meetings and another for client calls.
👥 Team Options
Sometimes, you may not want everyone in your workspace setting up their own Linear integrations — especially if you want control over where meeting tasks go or need to keep your team’s workflow consistent. That’s where Integration Scope comes in. It lets workspace admins decide whether the Linear integration applies just to them or across the entire team.
Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to your Linear configuration and select Team Options from the dropdown list.
A modal window will appear with the following options:
Apply to entire workspace → Turn this ON to apply the Linear integration for everyone in your Fireflies workspace. All the team meetings accessible by the admin will create tasks in Linear, keeping everything centralized.
📌 Meetings that are set to private in a teammate’s Privacy Settings won’t be pushed to Linear unless you’re a Super Admin who can access meetings irrespective of team privacy settings.
Restrict non-admin usage → Turn this ON to prevent non-admin teammates from setting up their own Linear integrations. This helps maintain structure and avoids duplicate configurations.
Once you’ve set the toggles to match your workflow, click Save to apply the changes.
Use workspace-level settings when managing sensitive projects or client calls to limit access. Choose personal configurations when teammates need flexibility to manage their own Linear tasks.

🛠 Manage Configuration
As your projects evolve, you might want to adjust your Linear integration — like renaming a configuration, changing where issues are created, or removing old setups you no longer need. Fireflies makes it easy to manage everything in just a few clicks.
✏ Edit Configuration Name → Give each Linear configuration a clear, descriptive name so it’s easy to recognize — especially if you’ve connected multiple teams or projects. Click the configuration name (for example, Default Configuration), type the new name (like Product Sprint Tasks), and click outside the field to save.
Clear names are especially useful when you’re managing several configurations across different projects.

⚙ Edit Configuration Settings → Need to change where your meeting tasks go or how they’re tracked? Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to a configuration, select Edit, update the team, project, or issue status, and then click Update to save your changes.

🗑 Delete Configuration → If a configuration is no longer needed (for example, a project wraps up or your team moves to a different Linear project), you can safely delete it. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to the configuration, select Delete, and confirm.
Deleting a configuration means Fireflies will stop creating tasks in that Linear team or project. Make sure it’s no longer active before removing it.

🔘 Enable or Disable a Configuration → Use the toggle switch next to a configuration to quickly control it. Toggle ON to let Fireflies create meeting tasks in your selected Linear team, project, and status; toggle OFF to pause task creation without deleting the setup.
This is handy if you have multiple Linear configurations — you can keep one active and pause the others whenever needed.

📤 How Tasks Appear in Linear
Once connected, Fireflies automatically adds your meeting action items as issues in your selected Linear team and project.
Each issue includes the action item as the title, the meeting name for context, and a direct link to the Fireflies recording and transcript — so your team can review details and act without missing context.

❌ Disconnect Integration
If you no longer need Fireflies connected to Linear — for example, when wrapping up a project or switching to a new workflow — you can disconnect it anytime with a single click.
Click the Disconnect button to remove the Linear integration. This immediately ends the connection, and Fireflies will stop creating new tasks in Linear.
Once disconnected, Fireflies won’t send new tasks to Linear — but you can reconnect anytime when needed.

🛠 Troubleshooting
