How to Set Up the Fireflies–Slack Integration
Last updated: April 28, 2026
Slack is where conversations happen, but meeting notes and follow-ups often live somewhere else. Connecting Fireflies to Slack keeps everything together by sharing meeting notes in Slack and letting you ask questions about meetings without leaving the conversation.
You only need to connect Slack once to share notes in channels or DMs and use Slack Assistant by tagging @Fireflies — there’s no separate setup or extra installation.
📌 Connecting Slack is step 1 of 2. To receive meeting notes in Slack, you also need to set up a Slack configuration — choose a channel and customize the message. Until you do this, no notes will push.
🔍 What happens when you connect Slack
Once Slack is connected, Fireflies can:
Post meeting summaries and notes to Slack so your team can review key points and action items without leaving the channel
Respond when you tag @Fireflies in channels or threads, making it easy to ask questions or request summaries right where the conversation is happening
There’s no additional setup — connecting Slack once enables both.
🔑 Prerequisites
Before you connect Fireflies to Slack, make sure you have:
A Fireflies account with access to the Integrations page.
Access to a Slack workspace where you’re allowed to install apps.
Permission to post messages in the Slack channel or DM you plan to use.
Once these are in place, you’re ready to connect Slack in just a few clicks.
🔗 Connect Fireflies to Slack
This setup covers both Slack notes and Slack Assistant. There’s no separate installation.
Step 1: Log in to your Fireflies account, navigate to the Integrations page, and search for Slack Assistant. Click on it to get started.

Step 2: Click on the Connect button. You’ll be redirected to Slack, where you can sign in to your workspace.

Step 3: Review the permissions Fireflies needs and choose where Fireflies should post meeting notes. You can select:
A public channel (for example,
#sales-dailyto keep the team aligned)A private channel (for example,
#leadership-callsfor confidential discussions)A direct message with a person or group (useful for 1:1s or async updates)
Once selected, click Allow to complete the connection.

You must select a destination (channel or DM) before clicking Allow — otherwise, the button will stay disabled.
Don’t worry, you can change this later from the Slack integration settings in Fireflies.
Step 4: Once approved, you’ll be redirected back to Fireflies to configure your integration setup.

⚙ Setting Up Your Slack Configuration
After connecting Slack, you’ll need to create a configuration to start sending meeting notes. You can edit these settings anytime from the Slack integration.
Step 1: Choose a channel
Click the Search dropdown to find the Slack channel where meeting notes should be posted. Type a channel name (e.g. #general or #sales-updates) and select it from the list.

If you select a private channel, you'll need to invite the Fireflies bot first. Open the channel in Slack, type /invite @Fireflies, and press Enter — then come back and select the channel.
In Slack, Public channels are marked with a # icon and private channels are marked with a 🔒 icon.

💡 Don't see your channel? Click Refresh now to sync the latest channels from your Slack workspace.
Click Continue once you've selected your channel.

Step 2: Add an optional message
You can add a short custom message that appears before the meeting notes in Slack — useful for adding context, like Here's the recap from today's call.
This step is optional and can be skipped if you don't need it.

Step 3: Test Connection
Before finishing setup, you can test if everything is working correctly.
Click Create sample meeting → Fireflies will send a sample message to your selected Slack channel.
Open Slack and check the channel to confirm the message appears
Once verified, click Continue to complete the setup.

These tests don’t affect your real meetings or projects — they’re just for confirming the setup.
🧩 Additional Options – Integration Rules
By default, Fireflies sends meeting notes to Slack for every meeting. If you want more control, you can use Integration Rules to decide which meetings send notes to Slack.
Integration Rules are available on Business or higher plans.

🗂 All Meetings
Send notes from every meeting — calls, check-ins, or demos — with no filters applied.
📝 Meeting Title
Only send notes when the meeting title matches specific rules (Contains, Starts with, Equals, Doesn’t Contain).
Example: “Demo”, “Client Call”
👤 Meeting Host
Filter meetings based on who hosted them.
Equals → Only meetings hosted by a specific person
Not Equal → Exclude meetings hosted by a specific person
👥 Meeting Participants
Control which meetings are included based on attendees.
Contains → Include meetings with specific participants
Doesn’t Contain → Exclude meetings with certain participants
🎦 Meeting Type
Filter by meeting type.
Example: External → Only external meetings
🔀 Apply Multiple Filters
Combine rules for more precise control.
Example: Title contains “Demo” AND host is sales@company.com

You can view all the filters currently applied to your configuration. Fireflies will only send notes to Slack for meetings that match all the conditions you’ve set.
✅ Example: Title contains Interview, host = John, participant = Mary, type = External.

💾 Save Your Configuration
Click Save to activate the integration — a flash message will confirm that your configuration has been successfully added.

You can set up multiple configurations - for example, one for internal meetings and another for client calls. Click + Add Config at the top to add a new one.
👥 Team Options
Sometimes, you may not want every teammate creating their own Slack configurations, especially if your team wants meeting notes to be sent in a consistent way. Team Options allow workspace admins to control how the integration is used across the team.
1. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to your Slack integration and select Team Options.
2. A modal will show these options:
Apply to entire workspace → When enabled, meeting notes from team meetings accessible by the admin will be sent to Slack, keeping everything centralized.
📌 Meetings set to private in a teammate’s Privacy Settings won’t be included unless you’re a Super Admin who can access meetings regardless of team privacy settings.
Restrict non-admin usage → When enabled, only admins can create or manage Slack configurations.
3. After adjusting the settings, click Save to apply the changes.

Use workspace-level settings for shared Slack workflows, and personal configurations when individuals want to manage where their meeting notes are sent.
🛠 Manage Configuration
Over time, you may need to update your Slack integration — for example, to rename a configuration, update rules, or remove configurations you no longer use. Fireflies provides a few simple options to manage this.
✏ Edit Configuration Name → Give each Slack configuration a clear, descriptive name so it’s easy to recognize. Click the configuration name (for example, Default Configuration), type a new name (such as Slack Meeting Notes), and click outside the field to save.

⚙ Edit Configuration Settings → Need to update your integration rules or settings? Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to a configuration, select Edit, update the settings, and click Update to save your changes.

🔘 Enable or Disable a Configuration → Use the toggle next to a configuration to control it quickly. Toggle ON to send meeting notes to Slack; toggle OFF to pause the integration without deleting it.

This is helpful if you have multiple configurations and only want one active at a time.
🗑 Delete Configuration → If a configuration is no longer needed (for example, you no longer want notes sent to Slack), you can delete it. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) next to the configuration, select Delete, and confirm.

Deleting a configuration stops Fireflies from sending meeting notes to Slack, so make sure it’s no longer needed before removing it.
✅ After you connect to Slack
Once Slack is connected and your setup is complete, you can start using Fireflies directly in Slack.
Choose where meeting notes are posted and update the destination anytime from the Slack integration settings
Tag @Fireflies in any channel it’s been added to to ask questions or request meeting summaries
📬 What your Slack notes will look like
Fireflies shares meeting notes in Slack using a clean, structured layout to reduce noise and keep channels easy to scan.
🌟 Main message
The main message includes the key highlights of the meeting:
Meeting title — a clickable link to view the full recap in Fireflies
Time — shown in the meeting host’s time zone
Participants — with mailto links so you can email them directly
Overview — a summary of what the meeting covered

💬 Threaded reply
Detailed notes are shared in a thread to keep the main channel uncluttered while still providing full context:
Bullet-point summary notes
Action items in a checklist format, so it’s clear what needs to happen next

This way, your team gets the highlights upfront with the option to dive deeper when needed.
❌ Disconnect Integration
If you no longer need Fireflies connected to Slack — for example, if your team changes workflows or no longer wants meeting notes posted — you can disconnect the integration at any time.
Open the Slack integration in Fireflies and click Disconnect. This immediately removes the connection.

Once disconnected, Fireflies will stop sending notes to Slack. You can always reconnect later if needed.
