This guide explains how to edit speaker labels in the transcripts generated by Fireflies.
How to edit speaker names on the transcript
While transcribing meetings, Fireflies automatically identifies speaker names based on the participant's email address. Here’s how you can edit or change these names:
- Click the Meetings tab on the navigation bar.
- Search for a meeting title in the Fireflies Notebook and select a meeting.
- Open the meeting transcript.
- Click the speaker name you wish to change on the transcript.
- If you already find the name on the speaker list, click the name.
- You will get two options:
- Apply to current speaker
- Apply to all “Speaker name”
- Click on Apply to current speaker if you only want to apply the change name in that particular section of the transcript.
- Click on Apply to all “Speaker name” if you want to update the name throughout the transcript.
- If the name is not listed, type the name you want in the text box.
- Click Add “speaker name”.
Note:
- You need to be a meeting owner to be able to edit the speaker labels.
How to split a paragraph across multiple speakers
If a paragraph is incorrectly attributed to a single speaker, but different parts of the paragraph were spoken by different individuals, you can split the paragraph and assign each part to the correct speaker. Follow these steps:
- Go to the incorrectly attributed paragraph and click the pencil icon to enable editing.
- Position the cursor where you want to split the paragraph and press Enter to create a new line.
- Click on the speaker name for the new line and select the correct speaker from the list (or add a new speaker if not listed).
- Choose Apply to current speaker to assign that line to the new speaker
- Click Save to accept the changes.
