Transcription credits
1. What are transcription credits?
- Transcription credits are tokens needed to transcribe and summarize your meetings or files uploaded to Fireflies.
2. How to get transcription credits?
- Every Fireflies account is automatically allocated transcription credits.
3. How many transcription credits do you get?
- If you’ve upgraded to a Fireflies paid tier (Pro and above), you get unlimited transcription credits.
- However, if you’re on the Fireflies free tier, the credits are decided based on the platform you use to create your Fireflies account. Here's a breakdown:

4. Are transcription credits required to transcribe and summarize meetings?
Let’s see how transcription credits are consumed for transcribing and summarizing meetings.
Free Plan
- By default, 1 transcription credit is consumed to transcribe and summarize 1 meeting.
You can get unlimited transcription credits to transcribe meetings. To do that, configure the Send email recap to set Everyone on the invite.
After doing that, transcription credits will only be required to summarize meetings. This setting applies only to meetings captured via the Fireflies mobile app, Chrome extension or the Fireflies bot.

Paid Plans (Pro & Business)
- No transcription credits are required, as you get unlimited credits for all meetings.
4. Are transcription credits needed for transcribing uploaded files?
Let’s see how transcription credits are consumed for uploading files:
Free Plan
- 1 transcription credit is consumed to transcribe and generate summaries for 1 file uploaded to Fireflies.
Paid Plan
- Transcription credits do not apply while uploading files. But, an audio processing rate applies to all users in the paid plan who wish to transcribe uploaded files.
The rate limits are as follows:
- Per user limit: 3,000 minutes/mo
- Overage: $0.01/minute after 3,000 minutes
- Team cap: 3,000 minutes/seat/source/mo.
- Overage: $0.01/minute after 150,000 minutes

5. Can I transcribe past meetings when you upgrade to a paid plan?
- Yes. You can transcribe past meetings when upgrading to a paid plan.
- While transcribing past meetings, your paid plan's monthly rate limits apply. If you exceed those limits, an overage of $0.01/min is charged.

6. How to get more transcription credits?
- You can earn more transcription credits by upgrading to a paid plan or by inviting more team members to your workspace. You can also refer Fireflies to your friends and get more transcription credits.
