This guide explains how to use the real-time pane on the Fireflies Chrome extension.

Introduction to the Real-time Pane
- The Real-time Pane is a floating window that appears on the top of your Google Meet meeting window.
- The Real-time Pane lets you:
- See the live transcript of a Gmeet meeting.
- Bookmark important moments, create Soundbites, and add comments on the go.
- Search keywords within the transcript.
- Edit meeting title.
- Stop recording the meeting.
- You must install and enable the Fireflies Chrome extension to access the Real-time Pane.
Explore the Real-time Pane
- Click the Fireflies icon on your Google Meet meeting window.
- A floating window will appear.
- You may click and drag the bar at the top of the Real-time Pane to anywhere on your screen.
- The Real-time Pane will have 3 tabs:
- Transcript: Shows the real-time meeting transcription.
- Activity: Highlights bookmarks, Soundbites, and comments.
- AskFred: Opens the chat window with AskFred.

How to use the Real-time Pane
1. See the live transcript of a Gmeet meeting
- Real-time Pane opens up to the Transcript tab that showcases the live transcript.
- Click the Fireflies icon or the Transcript tab on the Real-time Pane to view the live transcript.
- Click the copy icon to copy the entire transcript to your clipboard.
2. Bookmark important moments
- Click the Activity tab on the Real-time Pane.
- You can see 4 action buttons at the bottom of the Real-time Pane.

- Action items
- Concern
- Click the button you want.
- Alternatively, on the transcription tab, highlight the text. An action panel will show up.
- Click the action you want to take from the panel.
3. Create Soundbites
You can create Soundbites via the Real-time Pane in two ways:
- Via the Transcript tab
- Via the Activity tab

Via the Transcript tab
- Highlight the text in the transcript you want to convert into a Soundbite.
- An action panel will appear. Click Soundbite on it. The Soundbite of the selected text will be created instantly.
- You can find the generated Soundbite in the Activity tab.

On the Activity tab
- Click the Soundbite button at the bottom of the Real-time Pane.
- You will get 3 options:
- Past 20 seconds: Generate a Soundbite of the conversation in the last 20 seconds.
- Past 40 seconds: Generate a Soundbite of the conversation in the last 40 seconds.
- Past 1 minute: Generate a Soundbite of the conversation in the last 1 minute.
- Click on either option to generate a Soundbite accordingly.
Note: You can only create Soundbites of up to the past 1 minute via the Activity tab. To create Soundbites of conversation before it or of longer duration, use the highlight transcript on the Transcript tab.
4. Add comments
- Click the text box mentioning Add comments on the Activity tab of the Real-time Pane.
- Type in your comment and press Enter.
5. Search keywords within the transcript
- Click the search icon on the right side of the Transcript tab on the Real-time Pane.
- Type in the word or phrase you want to search for. The transcript will display the result filtered and highlighted in yellow.
6. Edit meeting title
- Click the meeting title on the Real-time Pane. The title will become editable.
- Type in the new name and press Enter.
7. Stop recording the meeting
- Click the stop icon on the right side of the Real-time pane to stop recording the meeting using your Fireflies Chrome extension.
