This guide gives an overview of Fireflies' Real-time Notes feature.
Introduction to Fireflies Real-time pane
Note:
- Participants can interact with the Real-time pane only when the Fireflies bot is present.
- Actions within the pane are visible to all participants with access.
- Currently, the Real-Time pane supports English and is available for Google Meet meetings.
How to access the Real-time pane
You can access the Real-time pane in 3 ways:
1. From your Fireflies dashboard
- Log into your Fireflies account. Navigate to Upcoming Meetings and Click the Live Meeting button.
2. From your meeting chat
Enable web conference chat toggle in Settings :
- Go to Settings and Scroll down to the Realtime Settings and enable the toggle against WEB CONFERENCE CHAT.
- Fireflies will send the Real-time pane link in the meeting chat 2 minutes after the meeting starts.
3. From the Fireflies email
- Fireflies sends a direct link to the Real-time Pane 5 minutes before the scheduled meeting.
- By default, the email is sent only to admins, but this can be customized in Settings > Real-Time Meeting Notification.
- Open the email and click Open live meeting transcript to access the Real-time Meeting Pane.
- From your email, click on Open live meeting transcript to open the Real-time pane in a new tab.
Note
The Real-time Meeting Pane works as a browser pop-up. If your browser has pop-up blockers, you must unblock It to access it. Follow these steps for it:
- Click the Pop-up manage icon.
- Select Allow pop-ups and redirects from Fireflies and Click Done.
- Click Unblocked, open live meeting.
Exploring the Real-time pane
1. Real-time Notes

Gives concise bullet-point summaries of what has been covered in the meeting so far.
2. Live transcript

Shows real-time transcription of spoken words as the meeting progresses.
3. Real-time action items

Automatically captures action items and lists them in the Notes tab.
Note: You can also manually bookmark action items during the meeting.
- Five minutes before the meeting ends, Fireflies auto-assigns action items and shares it in the chat.
Note:
- After the meeting, you can access all action items from your Notepad or from the tasks feed.

If you prefer not to see action items shared in the chat during the meeting, Navigate to Settings > Real-Time Settings and turn off the toggle next to Key Takeaways on Chat.
4. AskFred
- Use AskFred the ChatGPT meeting assistant to summarize meetings or generate notes.
- AskFred will answer your questions or generate content instantly.
5. Bookmarks
- You can bookmark important moments, action items, positive and negative sentiments or create Soundbites from meetings.
- Click on Comments to add comments during the meeting.
- After the meeting ends, click View recording in the Real-Time pane.
- Access the meeting recording, transcript, summary and bookmarks from your Notepad.
