Fireflies allows you to tailor meeting summaries and notes to your preference by changing prompts within the AI Apps.
While customizing these prompts, you have the option to change the language model.
This article covers what these language models are and how to select one when customizing notes and summaries.

Types of AI Models
There are three AI Models:
- GPT: Basic
- GPT: Advanced
- GPT: Advanced Large
Choosing an advanced AI Model will help you generate better output for your notes and meeting summaries.

Note: Customizing meeting notes and summaries requires AI credits. AI Credits needs to be purchased additionally as an add-on. The number of AI credits spent depends on the AI model you're using.
Context Window Information for AskFred Tiers
Fireflies uses OpenAI's GPT-4o as its standard model across all tiers. The primary difference between each tier is the context window size. Below are the details:

GPT Basic (Default)
- Model: GPT-4o Basic
- Context Window: 3,000 tokens
- Usage: Suitable for short summaries and action items.

GPT Advanced
- Model: GPT-4o Advanced
- Context Window: 13,000 tokens
- Usage: Ideal for more detailed summaries and comprehensive notes.

GPT Advanced Large
- Model: GPT-4o Advanced Large
- Context Window: 30,000 tokens
- Usage: Best for extensive meeting summaries and capturing detailed discussions.
Note: Users cannot use their own models or API keys. Fireflies uses GPT-4o exclusively to ensure consistent and high-quality summaries, action items, and notes

How to switch AI models inside meeting notes
When viewing meeting notes, you can switch the AI model for each summary element and custom AI apps.
These 5 meeting summary elements are—Keywords, meeting overview, action items, meeting notes, and meeting outline. To customize them:
- Open your desired meeting on Fireflies.
- Hover over the summary element for which you want to switch the AI model. Additional buttons will appear.
- Click the three-dot menu and click Customize.
- Select your AI Model.
- Click Save.
Note: You can’t change the AI Model for Keywords from meeting notes. Instead, you need to do it from the Apps page.
Repeat this process for every Super Summary and custom AI App you have created.
Note: For every Super Summary and custom AI app you create, you can choose different AI models. For example, you can set Meeting Overview to GPT: Advanced Large and Action Items to GPT: Basic language model.
How to switch AI Models from the Apps page
- Go to Fireflies web app and click Apps.
- Click Configure for your desired app.
- Select your AI Model.
- Click Save.
How to regenerate summaries and notes after switching AI Models
Once you switch AI models, you can update your previous summaries to reflect the outputs.
- Open your desired meeting.
- Under the Notes tab, click Regenerate.
- A pop-up window will open. Click Regenerate.
- Give it a few minutes to process the meeting summary.
Once it’s done, your meeting summary will be updated according to your latest AI Model settings.
Here is what the output looks like for each AI Model
Prompt used: Summarize the meeting agenda in a single sentence. Subsequently, provide concise bullet point action items (max 10 words each) for each participant discussed in the meeting.
